A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the
value of life
Charles Darwin
Don’t go out of your way to prove you are a good
person, that can be exhausting. Just be a good person and let the chips fall
where they may. People either recognize your virtuous nature or they don’t. But
in the overall scheme of things people’s opinion of you don’t mean a thing.
Besides people can be fickle and hypocritical. They like you today and dislike
you tomorrow. Especially if you don’t do things "their" way. Only
what you do for God and the uplifting of His Kingdom will stand the test of
time. His love is unconditional. His love is encouraging, enriching and
motivational. God's love is always in spite of. In spite of our flaws and
imperfections. In spite of our constant disobedience. In spite of our lack of
attention to His needs from us. In spite of our lack of reciprocity of the kind of love He shares with
us.
Can any of your so called friends say that? Do your friends love you for who you are.... flaws and all ...without judging you (even silently) or talking behind your back to others? Can your "friends" or associates lay claim to staying down for you even when you don’t do things their way? Can your "friends" or loved ones totally support you even when they don’t quite understand why you do the things you do or the "methods to your madness". Will your "friends" be there for you when the going gets rough to tell you it’s going to be ok and to just hang in there? If you can answer yes to any or all of those questions, count yourself as truly blessed. If you can’t the next part is for you.
I don’t know if the people who you have decided to call your friends will do any of the aforementioned things...but I know God will. God most definitely will....and that totally is who I put my trust in. It took me a while to understand this and the motives of people. It’s not that complex really. People are either selfish or selfless and there is no in between. Selfish in that every single thing that they do in this life is to benefit them with no thought to how their actions effect others. Selfless in that they put others needs before their own with no expectation of payment or reciprocation. The latter comes with maturity, a strong of sense of self and a connection to the Most High.
Which are you?
Hopefully the latter.
If not, that's all right. It’s never too late for a new beginning. Old habits die hard…. but in order for you to truly experience God’s best, they have to die.
